FOUNDER'S STORY - WHY I DANCE FOR HUMANITY:
When I was 14 years old, I was diagnosed with cancer (Hodgkin's Lymphoma). It was discovered that it was linked to environmental pollution caused by a local manufacturing company dumping chemicals, contaminating the soil, groundwater, and our drinking water. I was fortunate to live, however, there were others who did not. I dance for them and for all those who cannot.
During this time, I felt deeply unworthy. This is also when dance came alive for me. It was the one place in which I felt free and happy. It has helped me heal and fueled me ever since. I dance for my own continued healing, joy and growth and for the wellbeing of all.
It only makes sense to me that we dance together for the wellbeing of all people and the planet and for the brightest path for ourselves and future generations. This is why I dance for humanity.
I am the Founder of Dance for Humanity. As a Community Dance Leader, Choreographer and Performing Artist, I'm passionate about leading community dance events to guide dance lovers to connect more deeply, express more freely and dance with intention - for personal and collective wellbeing and eco-social causes. I love engaging movement/dance, mindfulness, and healthy embodiment and co-creation skills so we can all move forward together to create a happier, healthier world for all.
I specialize in improvisational, expressive forms such as Contemplative Dance/Authentic Movement, as well as Salsa and Afro-Latin Dance. I have 13+ years of experience leading various types of community dance classes and workshops.
I have also served as a Holistic Life/Career Coach, Group Facilitator and Meditation Teacher with 11+ years of experience, including at MIT and in private practice.
Education and Credentials
I hold a B.A. in Psychology from Tufts University, M.Ed. from Suffolk University, Four Forces Interpersonal and Group Facilitator Certification, Certificate in Mindfulness and Psychotherapy, and Koru Mindfulness Teacher Certification. I have also completed the Contemplative Dance/Authentic Movement Week 1 experience and Grounding Your Village: Ecovillage and Intentional, Sustainable Community Development course.
